Curriculum
God’s Little Children Preschool and Kindergarten strive to accommodate each child’s individual learning style in a developmentally appropriate way.
Our curriculums are collaborations between all programs to ensure that the children are working towards developing the skills necessary to be successful as they progress through their early childhood learning experience. We utilize the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, as well as the Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences that were developed by the Massachusetts Department of Education and the Early Childhood Advisory Council, to provide the children with the most accurate and developmentally appropriate learning environments.
For our children just beginning their early childhood learning experience in Preschool 1, we develop activities and learning expectations to spark a sense of discovery and curiosity in the world around them. As the children learn, grow, and graduate to our Preschool 2 program, the activities become more challenging and multi dimensional. At the end of Preschool 2, it is our goal to have all children ready to succeed in a Kindergarten classroom. Students that continue with us through Kindergarten are exposed to a rich curriculum that coincides closely with the Shrewsbury Public School curriculum and The Massachusetts Department of Elementary Education Curriculum Standards. Finally, our School Age students engage in intellectually challenging STEAM activities to complement the education they are receiving in the public school.
The Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks guide the teachers as they create diverse curriculum to accommodate the needs of all learning styles. Meaningful educational experiences are also developed through our use of the Handwriting Without Tears Program®, Teaching Strategies Gold Curriculum, and Assessment Method®, as well as, an emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) curriculum. The children engage in purposeful play in our classrooms, outside playground, and inside gymnastics facility. Apple Tree Arts of Grafton, MA provide us with thoughtful and individualized music classes, and all students attend a weekly energetic gymnastics class taught by USAG Gymnastics Safety Certified teachers. During the summer month’s, children may choose to continue attending God’s Little Children Preschool and Kindergarten. The children will have access to our heated, outdoor swimming pools and may have the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons as well.
Each year parents are given a comprehensive curriculum guide to help nurture meaningful conversations and create opportunities to extend the learning process at home.
“GLC is an absolutely wonderful preschool with awesome teachers! Sanaya was very lucky to be able to do kindergarten there. Since there are less kids in class, she got one-on-one attention from Miss Donna, was challenged to best of her ability, and learned a lot of things almost at the first grade level, whether it was writing, journal, math, or science. I would highly recommend this school to everyone.”
